The job market is a very competitive place, particularly with today's economic market conditions. The need to market yourself and communicate the clear benefits you present to an employer has never been more important. The purpose of your CV is not to get you the job but to secure an interview; a face to face meeting where you will get the chance to prove your skill set and demonstrate your clear ability.
Remember, you are not writing the CV for yourself you are writing it for a prospective employer. It must outline the value you add through the performance and results you have bought to date.
Prospective employers are looking for evidence - proof that you will excel in the role if they choose to employ you. They will be judging your; skills, experience, track record and personality, against many other applicants.
There are two main opportunities where you can make an impact. These are:
